Norsepower hosted a panel discussion where participants challenged conventional thinking around clean technology investment, a market that has often been characterised by investments in one single technology, with financial decisions often based upon on antiquated payback algorithms. Panellists highlighted the variety of drivers challenging the industry to decarbonise: the anticipated cost of carbon as a tax or levy, increasing fuel costs as new, low carbon fuels emerge, pending EEXI and CII regulations, and ‘demand side’ ESG drivers from shippers, banks and other stakeholders.
